Scout Genomics LLC

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of bioinformatics?

I have been working in computational biology / bioinformatics for over 15 years. It's a confusing world full of options and I'm here to help you navigate this awkward terrain and provide solutions. I can offer assistance with experimental design, workflow development, data analysis, data visualization, bioinformatics training, and manuscript preparation with focus on large and small scale genomics.

Services Offered

  • Code development
  • Experimental design
  • Manuscript preparation and review
  • Cloud integration
  • Data analysis and visualization
  • Bioinformatics training

Background

I earned my Ph.D. in Molecular Biology in 2016. I have worked on a wide array of projects and concepts that include evolutionary biology, sequence evolution, genome annotation, RNASeq, assay validation, GWAS, and rare variant discovery. My coding background is robust in Python, R, and Bash. My primary workflow manager is Snakemake integrated with conda, but I can integrate singularity or Docker containers. I also spent four years teaching classes in biology and bioinformatics. In the footer you can find links to my youtube, google scholar, linkedin, and github for additional information.

Genome and Sequence Evolution

I am familiar with vertebrate and bacterial public repositories storing sequence data (i.e. NCBI and Ensembl). I have contributed to over 10 publications focused on gene and species evolution.

Gene Expression

I have extensive experience in analyzing RNASeq data using various computational tools and methods. From read mapping to functional enrichment.

Rare Variants

For three years, I explored associations between rare diseases and the genetic variants that cause them.
